Pride Civic Association

Pride Civic Association was formed in 1989 by a few concerned citizens in our neighborhood who wished to make it a safer place to live and a place of which to be proud. Some of the original group still serves on the committee, which is always in need of new volunteers and new ideas.

Activities

Annual Garage Sale

We have been holding an annual Garage Sale for many years. The association puts an ad in the paper and signs are placed around the neighborhood perimeter a week prior to the scheduled weekend. This event is generally scheduled for the third weekend in February.

Christmas Decoration Contest

This is an annual contest throughout the neighborhood. The association committee assigns two impartial judges per zone. The judging usually takes place the weekend before Christmas. Gift Certificates from local merchants are given out to the first, second and third prize winners in each zone. The fourth prizewinner is awarded an Honorable Mention. Certificates are given to the top four winners in each zone and a sign is placed in the yard of the first place winner of each zone.

Hazardous Waste Drop-off

Pride Civic Association has sponsored an Annual Hazardous Waste Collection in our neighborhood since January 2007. It is a Pinellas County Haz-to-Go Household Electronics and Chemical Collection Event. It is free to residents and has been very successful in the past.

Annual Picnic

In the past the association has sponsored an annual neighborhood cookout. It was usually held in late October near Halloween. There were activities for the children, some sort of entertainment and a few times we had a Chili Cook-off. Neighbors would bring a dish or dessert to share. We are hoping to re-instate this event in the future if we find the interest and help needed to make it successful.
